Haying Time: How to Create Wall and
Accent Paint Palettes from Your Photos
Learn how easy it is to create
your own custom paint palettes, from your photos
or digital images, with Sherwin Williams' free
ColorSnap tool.
Online paint palette generators like Sherwin
Williams' easy-to-use ColorSnap tool are great at
using photos and digital images to create arrays
of accent colors like the ones you can see
below. Those colors are usually perfect for
accessories, small areas of painted walls and
trim, artwork and decorative crafts. But, they
are often too bold, at least to my taste, for
use as wall and room paint in a home.
I
stumbled on ways to trick ColorSnap into
generating softer tones for wall paints as well
as its usual bold accent paints, from the same
photo. I thought that if you're in the process
of designing a space or decorating a room in
your home, the tricks might be of some use to
you too.
You're welcome to use the color schemes on this
page or to learn how easy it is to create your
own.
Just click on
the link below to see how you
can create your own wall and accent palettes
from a favorite snapshot, a classic art
masterpiece, a throw pillow, a rug, your room's
drapes, or whatever.
I hope
the tricks help.

Will the
colors above work for you? They might look different
on your walls. Computer monitor colors are always different than
actual paint colors. Before you buy gallons of paint and start
your decorating project, print this page on good quality matte photo paper and
take it to your favorite paint retailer. Get actual paint
chips or small jars of paint samples. View the chips or samples
in the room you're planning to decorate, on the walls, under the
lighting that you plan to use, and against your room's
furnishings and accents.
